Living with Lymphoedema
This video published by Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN) and taken at the 2018 Harvard Lymphoedema Symposium is about living with lymphoedema. Lymphoedema sufferer Kathy Bates gives a candid and emotional talk about her experiences from being told her lymph nodes had been removed through to living with lymphoedema. I find her truly inspiring. I hope those with lymphoedema or those who know of others living with lymphoedema will have time to view it to the end. My wish is to help with the understanding of what it is like living with Lymphoedema.
Supporting lymphoedema with reflexology
A few years ago, I trained specifically in reflexology for lymphatic drainage (RLD). Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to see this simple form of lymphatic drainage supporting those with lymphoedema. This form of simple lymphatic drainage should not be underestimated and can achieve great results. Developed and researched, this form of lymphatic drainage was originally developed to help breast cancer survivors. I use RLD for my clients who come following breast cancer and those with other lymphatic issues.
Of course, reflexology can’t cure lymphoedema (it would be lovely if it could)! Everyone is an individual with specific requirements therefore it is difficult to say exactly how RLD will benefit you. However published research, anecdotal feedback and testimonials from my clients confirm the RLD has eased their symptoms, reduced swelling, increased recovery time, helped them emotionally and generally increased their wellbeing. My clients with lymphoedema range from breast cancer survivors, damage to the lymphatic system from spinal surgery and primary lymphoedema.
As a therapist, I try to find out all I can about how to deal with and manage lymphoedema. This is why I have completed RLD accredited training, am a member of both the BLS and LSN and have completed specialist modules offered by the BMJ and RCGP.
What to do if you would like to find out more about reflexology?
I’m happy to discuss any questions you might have about how RLD can help your lymphoedema. You can find for information on my Reflexology Lymph Drainage page. To get in touch please use the Contact Us page and tell me a little about your circumstances and we can go from there!
